Panic

This morning I was fine. I'd got another offer. I'd got into Queen Mary's again. Then this afternoon it hit me. If i do Biomedical Science, am I actually going to be able to do medicine. Can I get in? Will I be able to afford it? I don't mind the 3 years (well a little bit) but the money and getting in is a worry. I've going to phone Queen Mary's tomorrow and get their advice.
Are these valid concerns or am I just worrying for nothing?

  1. Graduate entry is really common into medschool - only about 20-30% of my entire year came to medschool straight out of school. Those who took a degree don't regret it at all. You get the 'student' life with the first year of that degree that medicine tries to stop you from having.

  2. Thanks. After searching from TSR over and over again, seems like graduate entry is the most appropriate route. Doesn't look like I'd qualify for any of the Access to Medicine or Foundation degrees any how. Just panicking slightly. Shouldn't wish my life a way :/

  3. You're not worrying, it's always prudent to check first then act ;)

  6. Hiya mate, sorry for the late reply.

If you find yourself a grumpy, slightly bored ever so manic student in two years time, then yeah, chances are you're feeling how I am now :P

QMUL is great...the course is great...the uni's great...it's just hard to put my all into it when my heart is in medicine. Can be a bit tough at times, but I'm struggling through :P

But if you have ANY chance at applying for medicine without going through Grad entry, then take it...three years of biomed can be a bit gruelling at times!

  7. I don't know how things work exactly in the UK, but the worst decisions I've ever made with my education were the ones made to save money. I say, don't worry about the cost. Once you remove that factor-- follow your gut. Figure out which you really want to do...
